DETERMINATION OF A 2.8 NSEC HALF-LIFE FOR THE FIRST EXCITED STATE IN Au$sup 19$$sup 5$

Journal Article · · Arkiv. Fysik
OSTI ID:4833483
The half-life of the 6l.5 kev level in Au/sup 197/ was measured by delayed electron-electron coincidence technique. The value 2.8 plus or minus 0.3 nsec was obtained. The L/sub I/: L/sub II/: L/sub III/ subshell ratios of the 6l.5 kev transition was determined with an iron-free double focusing spectronneter and have the value 121 plus or minus 2:108 plus or minus 2:100 plus or minus 2. The mixing ratio E 2/M 1 computed from these ratios is 0.17. Transition probabilities were computed and compared with the corresponding values for the 77 kev transition in Au/sup 197/. An upper limit T1/2 < 0.2 nsec was measured for the 261 kev level in Au/sup 195?. (auth)
