ANGULAR ANISOTROPY OF THE FISSION OF EVEN-EVEN NUCLEI (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Atomnaya Energ.
OSTI ID:4833454
The dependence of the angular anisotropy of fission fragments resulting from the fission of U/sup 233/ and U/sup 235/ by neutrons in the energy range from 0.2 to 2.5 Mev was investigated by means of an experimental device containing 4 fission chambers. The arrangement made it possible to record simultaneously the fission fragments in the direction of the beam and perpendicularly to it, originating from two fissioning layers of U/sup 233/ and U/ sup 235/. The measurements were carried out on a Van-de-Graaff generator making use of the T(p,n)He/sup 3/ reaction for producing fast neutrons. A 75-kev solid T target was used, together with a detector having an angular resolution of 9 deg . The results indicated that threshold values of the first 2 channels agree well with J. Hill and J. Wheeler's (Phys. Rev. 89, 1102 (1955)) data, being --i.47 and-0.72 Mev for U/sup 233/, --0.6 Mev for U/sup 235/ and -1.6l and -0.72 Mev for Pu/sup 239/. (TTT)
