The CaH/sub 2/ phase diagram was studied by thermal analysis and chemical analysis of equilibrated phases. The maximum solubility of CaH/sub 2/ in calcium metal is 24 mole% at the peritectic temperature of 890 deg . Calcium metal undergoes an allotropic transition at 448 plus or minus 2 deg and melts at 839 plus or minus 2 plus or minus . An intermediate phase, stable bentween 320 to 600 deg , is produced by hydrogen. Calcium hydride shows an allotropic transformation at 780 deg . (auth)
