The swimming pool reactor at Delft Technological University in the Netherlands is described. The research reactor will operate at a power level of l Mw with the initial operation period not to exceed 100 kw. The reactor will use light water as moderator, coolant, and partial shielding. The reactor will be housed in a gastight, domeshaped steel structure. The safety aspects of the reactor are described. The reactor and laboratories will go into operation before the middle of l962.
