EFFECT OF CRYSTAL GROWTH ON THE COMPARATIVE FIXATION OF Sr$sup 89$ AND Ca$sup 45$ BY CALCIFIED TISSUES

Journal Article · · Journal of Biological Chemistry (U.S.)
OSTI ID:4832059
The deposition of injected Sr/sup 89/ and Ca/sup 45/ was compared in several different calcified tissues of the rat. The results showed that discriminarion against strontium relative to calcium increased with an increase in crystallinity as determined bv x-ray diffraction line broadening analysis. A range in size or perfection in the crystal texture, or both, of different calcified tissues was demonstrated. (auth)
