SOME HYDROMAGNETIC EQUILIBRIA THAT SATISFY THE NECESSARY AND SUFFICIENT STABILITY CONDITIONS

Journal Article · · J. Nuclear Energy, Pt. C. Plasma Phys.-Accelerators-Thermonuclear Research
A criterion that is both necessary and sufficient for the stability of a cylindircally symmetric hydromagnetic equilibrium was obtained by Newcomb and Suydam, A numerical method of using the criterion to test for stability is described, and stable equilibrium configurations are presented. (auth)
