TURBULENT PARTICLE LOSS IN STRONG MAGNETIC FIELD DISCHARGE (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zhur. Tekh. Fiz.
OSTI ID:4830899
It is shown that in a strong magnetic field a discharge is unstable when the plasma conductivity changes in space. A turbulent convection leading to plasma cooling and particle losses at the walls is caused by this instability. The time of plasma confinement is evaluated by introducing the corresponding coefficient of turbulent diffusion. The results are in good agreement with stellarator measurements.
