CAPACITY PATTERN AND ELECTROPHOTOLUMINESCENCE OF AN OPTICALLY EXCITED ZnCdS PHOSPHOR IN A CONSTANT ELECTRIC FIELD (in German)

For an accurate discussion of the light flash in optically excited ZnCdS phosphors during the switching on and ofi of electrical fields, it is necessary to know the transient variation of the electron concentration within the crystal during the light flash. The measurement of the capacity pattern under the effect of electrical fields is suitable for the determination of the variation of the electron concentration in powdered phosphors. The capacity variation was recorded by oscillograph at a frequency of 30 kHz with a resolution of 1 msec and it was compared with the electrophotoluminescence curve. The results are shown graphically and indicate that the momentary glow of phosphors during the switching on and off of an electrical field can not be explained by an increase of the electron concentration within the crystal by excitation of electrons from bond sites in the conduction band.
