The performance of a respiratory protective system consisting of a packaged air cleaning unit with blower which delivers respirable air to a helmet enclosure was evaluated. A large number of milli-horsepower d-c motors were tested with blowers for application on the Mark I respirator system. A preliminary design was completed and prototype constructed of the Mark III respirator system. Mark IA and IIA respirator facepieces were fabricated of latex rubber. (M.C.G.)
