The transfer of radioactive Sr, Cs, and I, regarded as the most harmful nuclides in radiation hazard, into the hen's egg was studied after administration of these materials to laying White-Leghorn hens. Among these nuclides the total dose of the radiostrontium was the largest. Although the radiostrontium deposited mainly in the egg shell, some was found in the yolk and the white. The quantity of radiocesium which moved to the hen's egg was small, and the large part was in the egg white. The radiocesium content was much higher in the striated muscles than in the egg. Therefore, the contamination of the meat is more important than that of the egg in the laying hen. A considerable quantity of radioiodine accumulated in the egg yolk. As the yolk accumulated radioiodine to the same degree that the hen accumulated it (it tskes about 10 days to complete the formation of the yolk in the ovary) the radioiodine content in the yolk had reached a large amount when the egg was laid.
