A Contribution to the Characterization of the Cation Exchanger Properties of Selected Inorganic Materials; EIN BEITRAG ZUR CHARAKTERISIERUNG DER KATIONENAUSTAUSCHER- EIGENSCHAFTEN GEEIGNETER ANORGANISCHER MATERIALIEN

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4829170

The exchange or reaction behavior of Na/sup +/, K/sup +/, Rb/sup +/, Cs/ sup Fr/sup +/, Ca/sup +/, Sr/sup 2+/ , Sc/sup 3+/, and Y/sup 3+/ on synthetic zircon ium phosphate, wolframate, and molyhdate and Pelagic clay and glauconite was investigated in dependence on the hydrogen ion concentration. By characterization of the exchangers fay the distribution and separation coefficients, new possibilities for the separation of various ion types were indicated. A new method for the separation of Sr/sup 90/-Y/sup 90/, which depends on a reversal effect of the Sr/sup 90/-Y/sup 90/ selectivity coefficients at a critical pH value of >2.5, was developed. The exchange properties of a synthetic ultramarine were studied with respect to Fr and the alkali elements. (J.S.R.)
