SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF THORIUM WITH RUTIN (QUERCETIN-3- RUTINOSIDE)

Journal Article · · J. Less-Common Metals

Rutin was used for the spectrophotometric determination of thorium. Thorium forms with this reagent a deep yellow water-soluble complex, which obeys Lambert-- Beer's law at 4.35 m mu within the concentration range or 1.16--23.20 ppm of thorium. The color intensity of the complex does not vary between pH 3.0 and 4.0. The molar composition of the complex shows that it contains thorium and the rutin in the molar ratio of 1:2. The limits of interference due to various cations and anions in this determination are defined. (auth)
