THE RADIATION POLYMERIZATION OF COMPOUNDS BEARING TWO TERMINAL DOUBLE BONDS

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:4828968

ABS> The radioinduced gelation of several compounds and varying mixtures of compounds with two terminal double nds each was studied. Clear gelatin capsules were used for irradiation cells. A 100-c Co/sup 60/ source was used for irradiation of the monomers. The five compounds used were ethylene dimethacrylate (EDMA), triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEDMA), diallyfumarate (DAF), allylmethacrylate (ALLM), and divinyl benzene (DVB). Results a presented in graph and table form. It was demonstrated that the gel point can be a useful measure of the polymerization involved in an organic liquid by ionizing radiation. (M.C.G.)
