The double circuit design, in which the primary agent extracts the heat released in the reactor and the secondary agent (water) goes through the thermodynamic cycle of the energy installation, finds a wide range of application in the construction of power reactors. Using various variants of calculation, the effect of temperature t/sub 1/ of the primary coolant at its input on the net yield of a power reactor as a function of its nature is analyzed. Coolants such as carbon dioxide, helium, polyphenyls, and water were considered a formula, deduced from thermodynamic considerations, which permits the simple determination of the optimum value of the parameter t/sup -1/ is derived.
