>Progress is reported in studies of the long-term effects of Sr/sup 90/ and Ra/sup 226/ in beagles. Building, facilities, and procedures for care and breeding of animals are described. The growth and development of the beagle skeleton is discussed. Data are presented on the stable Sr content of food and in bones of beagles and the skeletal uptake of ingested Sr/sup 90/. A whole-body counter is described that will pernait measurements of radionuclide burdens in living beagles at very low levels. (C.H.)
