DEVELOPMENT OF URANIUM MONONITRIDE. Quarterly Progress Report, July- September 1961

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4828240
Calculated Wiedemann-Franz-Lorenz relations between the thermal and electrical conductivities of UN are given for temperatures of 200 to 800 deg C. Linear thermal expansion coefficient data are given for UN at 20 to l600 deg C and fit the equation, L/sub t/= L/sup 0 STA1 + (7.lt + 0.0032t/sup 2/ - 0.86 x 10/ sup -6/t /sup 3/) x 10/sup -6/!. modulus and hardness of UN are reported. Lattice constant values of UN are presented at varying oxygen and carbon contents. The irradiation program of UN samples is described. (D.L.C.)
