The formation of P/sup 32/ from (n, gamma ) and (n,p) reactions is discussed. The niethods for the preparation of P/sup 32/ (liquidliquid extraction, liquid-solid extraction, and distillation) are then reviewed. The selection of a preparation method and the method itself for use at the Karlsruhe Reactor Center are considered in some detail. In the appendix the purification of sulfur and radiochemical purity controls are reviewed. (J.S.R.)
