ABS>A shut-down device using neutron-absorbing ball shot for gas-cooled reactors is designed which can be actuated in response to a temperature rise in the core structure or to a drop in coolant pressure. A valve controlled by an electromagnet and a bellows is used to hold the balls above the core. (D.L.C.)
