A device for supporting the fuel elements in a channel and for restricting coolant flow therein in a reactor of the type described in British Patent 844,764 is designed with means for preventing faulty replacement which would cause overheating of the fuel elements. The device is a preassembled unit comprising a support body, an orifice plate, and catch means adapted to be supported on a seating at the base of the channel. The catch means comprises swinging levers with the arms adapted to engage upon the seating only when the orifice plate is the correct size or a larger one; if the orifice is too small, the lever arms are too long.
