ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR THE RAPID DETERMINATION OF NICKEL IN URANIUM METAL AND URANIC COMPOUNDS

The sample is dissolved in nitric acid or a nitric/ hydrochloric acid mixture and the excess acid is removed by evaporation to dryness. The residue is dissolved in water, ammonium citrate is added to complex uranium followed by bromine water to oxidize the nickel. The solution is then made alkaline with ammonia dimethylglyoxime solutlon is added, and the nickel concentration determined by measuring the absorbancy of the complex formed. (P.C.H.)
