FISSION FRAGMENT ENERGY DEPOSITION FOR FORMATION OF CHEMICAL PRODUCTS IN TWO PHASE SYSTEMS

Deposition efficiencies for slab and spherical fuel elements were derived for quadratic and linear approximations of the true fission fragment stopping power curve. The relative efficiencies for the same two systems were also derived for the eases of linear and quadratic G variation along the fission fragment track. Calculations were made for particular cases with the derived equations and the data were plotted. Several methods of applying these data to different systems of materials are given. Several features noted are the lower efiieiency for the quadratic energy loss approximation conipared to the linear energy loss approximation, the higher efficiencies due to G value variation, and the increase in eifieiency when the range in the process fluid decreases.
