DEVELOPMENT OF MINIATURE SiC NEUTRON DETECTORS. Quarterly Progress Report for Period Ending December 31, 1961

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4827360

Work on the development of miniature silicon carbide neutron detectors is reported. Progress was made in the development of surface junctions suitable for neutron detection. Diffused junctions as shallow as 2 to 3 microns were prepared. Electrolytic etching and contacting procedures were investigated for the preparation of a diode suitable for radiation testing. The bombardment and annealing furnace, to be used in conjunction with the Van de Graaff generation for irradiation annealing and counting studies, was constructed and tested. (auth)
