Resonance parameters and quantum defects for superexcited H{sub 2}

The results of R-matrix calculations on electron collisions with H{sub 2}{sup +} are presented. These calculations include the three lowest states of H{sub 2}{sup +} ({sup 2}{Sigma}{sub g}{sup +}, {sup 2}{Sigma}{sub u}{sup +} and {sup 2}{Pi}{sub u}). Positions and widths of the Feshbach resonances converging to both the {sup 2}{Sigma}{sub u}{sup +} and {sup 2}{Pi}{sub u} states are given, as are autoionization branching ratios for resonances lying above the {sup 2}{Sigma}{sub u}{sup +} state. Complex quantum defects, calculated be performing scattering calculations above threshold are presented for all three states considered. Results are tabulated for 12 symmetries ({sup 1}{Sigma}{sub g}{sup +}, {sup 1}{Sigma}{sub u}{sup +}, {sup 1}{Pi}{sub g}, {sup 1}{Delta}{sup g}, {sup 1}{Delta}{sub u}, {sup 3}{Sigma}{sub g}{sup +}, {sup 3}{Sigma}{sub u}{sup +}, {sup 3}{Pi}{sub u}, {sup 3}{Pi}{sup g}, {sup 3}{Delta}{sub g}, {sup 3}{Delta}{sub u}) and 13 internuclear separations from 1 to 4 a{sub 0}. 17 refs., 5 tabs.
