RADIOACTIVE DECAY ASSOCIATED WITH PLATINUM 195 (thesis)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4825160
A study was made of the gamma decay produced in Ir/sup 195/ and Pt/sup 195/ from the bombardment of Os/sup 192/ by 24-Mev alpha particles. The results confirm the reaction Os/sup 192/ ( alpha ,n) Pt/sup 195m/, and clearly suggest the concurrent production of Ir/sup 195/ by an ( alpha ,p) reaction. Ir/sup 195/ was found to decay by negatron emission at a half life of 4 hours. Beta particles of l.l-Mev end-point energy represent transitions directly to the ground state of Pt/sup 195/. Transitions by emission of beta particles of less energy give rise to gamma rays at (B.O.G.)
