RADIOCHEMISTRY OF DEFECT TEST ON HIGHLY RATED UO$sub 2$ FUEL TEST X-2-y

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4823904

Radiochemical results obtained during a three week irradiation of a defected, highly rated UO/sub 2/ fuel specimen in the X-2 loop are given. Escape- rate coefficients calculated for the fission-product gases Kr/sup 88/ and Xe/sup 138/ are .similar to those found in previous defect tests X-2-s and X-2-q. The release of the radioiodines was lower than in previous tests. The D.N. and gamma monitors indicated an increase in activity with reactor power cycles of approximates 10 Mw occurred. The increase was more pronounced on the power rise. (auth)
