KINETIC ENERGY OF THE FRAGMENTS EMITTED IN THE FISSION OF U$sup 238$ BOMBARDED BY 14.5 Mev NEUTRONS (in Russian)

The total kinet~c energy of U/sup 238/ fission fragments produced by 14.5-Mev neutron bombardment is measured using a double ionization chamber for mass ratios at 1.0, 1.1, were recorded. The difference between the maximal kinetic energy and its value for symmetric fission is 15 plus or minus 2 Mev. A comparison with the similar difference for thermal neutron induced fission in neighboring nuclei indicates that with increase of the bombarding particle energy, the kinetic energy of symmetric fragments increases.
