THE MEASUREMENT OF EPITHERMAL NEUTRON SPECTRA BY USE OF RESONANCE DETECTOR FOILS (SANDWICH METHOD) (in German)
A simple method for the measuremert of epithermal neutron fluxes in reactors is described. After a sandwich made from three foils of equal thickness ls activated in the neu tron flux the dlfference activity between the outer and the inner foil is determined. This difference activity is directly proportional to the neutron flux at the main resonance of the foil material. The activation by neutrons of other energies is nearly equal for the inner and the outer foils and cancels if the difference is formed. Measurements were made using Indium (resonance energy 1.46 ev), Gold (4.9 ev), Tungsten (18.8 ev), Lanthanum (73.5 ev) and Manganese (337 ev). The method was used to determine the epithermal neutron spectrura of the Karlruhe Research Reactor FR 2. (auth)
