TENSILE PROPERTIES OF HOT-WORKED PYROLYTIC GRAPHITE

Journal Article · · Trans. Met. Soc. AIME
OSTI ID:4823080
Tensile tests were run on a series of specimens from one block of pyrolytic graphite, some of which were hotworked by being strained at 2750 deg C, others of which were tested in the as-deposited condition. It was found that an increase in ultimate tensile strength of nearly 300% could be realized at 2200 deg C in a material deformed 37% at 2750 deg C. Evidence that changes in structure occurred during the straining at 2750 deg C is presented. (M.C.G.)
