Gold-198 and Rose Bengal Marked with Iodine-131 in the Diagnostic of Hepatic Vesicular Affections (thesis); L'OR-198 ET LE ROSE BENGALE MARQUE A L'IODE-131 DANS LE DIAGNOSTIC DES AFFECTIONS HEPATOVESICULAIRES (THESE)
Submitted to Universite, Paris. Colloidal gold-198 makes clear images of hepatic parenchyma: the examination from different angles demonstrated the presence of pathologically inert regions, such as hydatic cysts, abscesses, or neoplasia. The study of the disappearance curve for the colloid, together with a measurement of the blood volume, makes it possible also to calculate the hepatic isow. Using Rose Bengal marked with iodine-131, it is possible to obtain images of the liver and bile ducts, and to follow the elimination of the dye in the intestines. The simultaneous recording of the disappearance curves for the blood and of the appearance of the dye in the intestines constitutes a useful working test which is particularly sensible for evaluating the permeability of the bile ducts and, to a certain degree, the site of an obstruction.
