The radioprotective propenties of imidazole and seven of its derivatives were studied, and the effects of different treatment conditions were evaluated. Mice, aged 12 to 18 weeks, were exposed to lethal x-ray doses immediately after injection of the imidazole or its derivatives. The efficiency of the drugs was determined from the survival rate, The results showed that only imidazole offered any significant radioprotection. The effects of time between injection and irradiation, of dose injected, and of radiation dose on the efficiency of the imidazole were also briefly studied. (J.S.R.)
