Part of lectures given at l959 Latin American School of Physics, University uf Mexico. The relativistic wave equations for describing elementary particles are discussed. The representations of the three-dimensional rotation group and of Lorentz group are given. The equations of motion of free elementary particles were obtained from the study of the invariants of the latter group. The mass and spin were introduced into the theory and shown to be a consequence of relativity. (M.C.G.)
