DEVICE PLACED ON THE CHARGING CARRIAGE SYSTEM OF A NUCLEAR REACTOR FOR PLACING IT EXACTLY IN A POSITION CORRESPONDING WITH THE CHARGE HOLES OF THE REACTOR

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4821415
The charging carriage system comprises a first carriage movable in a first direction and is provided with rails for a second carriage movable in a direction perpendnncular to the first direction, the charging chamber for the fuel elements of the nuclear reactor being positioned on the second carriage; propulsion means for these movements are mounted on the carriages. In order to bring the charging opening into exact alignment with one of the charging holes in the top of the reactor, the carriages are first brought within a tolerance of about 15 mm to a predetermined charging hole. The exact alignment is performed by vertical slidable bolts with conical extremities mounted in each of these carriages, each of which bolts may be locked in one of a series of holes provided along a straight line parallel to the rails of the carriage in question. The locking movement is controlled by means also provided on these carriages. Preferably the hole occupied by the bolt at a given moment is indicated by a mechanical counter, comprising a feeling roller penetrating elastically nnnto the locking holes. (NPO)
