Probability Distribution for Classical Fluids

The probability distribution in phase space is obtained for particles in a small part of the total volume of a classical monatomic fluid in thermal equilibrium. It is shown that the distribution reduces to that obtained from a grand canonical ensemble as this part of the volume increases in size. The Debye- Huckel pair distribution function is obtained in the proper limit for the CouIomb case. The distribution is in the form of a first approximation with an infinite series of correction terms. (auth)
