OSTI ID:4821115
The irradiation of Be/sup 9/ by 2-Mev Li/sup 6/ ions produces Li/sup 7/ in its first excited state of 479 kev. Measurements are made of the charged particles in coincidence with the 479-kev garwna rays. The observations agree with the following mechanism: Li/sup 6/ + Be/sup 9/ yields ALPHA /sub 1/ + B/ sup 11*/ yields ALPHA /sub 2/ + Li/sup 7*/, and Li/sup 7*/ = Li/sup 7/ + gamma ; or B/sup 11*/ = n + B/sup 10*, B/sup 10*/, B/sup 10*/ + gamma .
