NUCLEAR REACTIONS PRODUCED BY 2 MEV Li$sup 6$ ON Be$sup 9$

The reactions produced by 2-Mev Li/sup 6/on Be/sup 9/ were studied. Measurements with scintillators showed that the most intense gamma rays are those from thie first excited state of Li/sup 7/ and B/sup 10/. Measurements with plates and junctions showed several groups of alpha particles from the double stripping reaction Li/sup 6/+ Be/sup 9/> alpha + B/sup 11. Coincidences between the junction spectra and the 479 kev gamma ray indicated that the double stripping reaction leading to a higher state is the primary reaction followed by break up of B/sup 11/ in alpha + Li/sup 7/ or N + B/sup 10/.
