>The organization of the potato industry in the United Kingdom was reviewed in conjunction with the present methods of storage and sprout suppression. The costs of alternative methods of sprout suppression were estimated for comparison with the estimated costs of the radiation treatment. Advantages and disadvantages of the radiation treatment and the factors involved in the costing analysis are briefly outlined and discussed. The commercial feasibility of the radiation processing of potatoes was considered for the United Kingdom potato industry. (auth)
