The French Patent 1,189,249 describes a boiling water reactor comprising water-steam separators positioned between the vertical fuel elements and the boiling water, each separator being constituted by a vertical tube provided on the outside with a helical rib; the liquid is thereby forced to execute a gyratory movement, so that the steam enters the tube via lateral openings in the tube wall. The present addition provides progressive variations of the distances apart of adjacent turns of the helical rib; these variations may be effected on each individual separator tube as a function of its length, or from tube to tube depending on the position of each tube in the reactor.
