HANDLING SYSTEM FOR MACHINES AND DEVICES FOR THE OPERATION OF A NUCLEAR REACTOR
A handling system is described for the operating machines of a nuclear reactor with vertical channels, these machines being horizontally displaceable in an operating space above the reactor. Preferably, above the reactor vessel a shielding plate is situated provided with a number of normally closed openings, each giving access to a number of reactor channels, these openings lying inside an imaginary circle. Above this shielding plate, a support is disposed diametrically over the circle and mounted on wheels traveling on circular rails that are fixed in the floor of the operating space so as to surround the said shielding plate and be concentric with the said circle. This support is provided with further rails enabling the selfpropelled operating machines to move in radial directions, so that the lower connection nozzle of each machine may be brought into aligmnent with the axis of each access opening, in order to be coupled therewith. The rails on the support may be brought into aligmnent with peripheral rails mounted in radial directions on the floor of the operating space for bringing the machine from the support into position on these peripheral rails.
