The boiler of this installation has a steam-generating stage with a separator drum situated outside the boiler casing. The operating fluid from said separator drum is circulated at a variable rate through the economizer in order to adjust the temperature of the coolant entering the reactor, while the liquid space of the drum is fed with operating fluid from a source via the economizer, a variable portion of this latter operating fluid being caused to bypass the economizer. Suitably, the proportion of operating fluid that is diverted through the by-pass increases as the rate at which operating fluid from the separator drum is circulated through the economizer increases.
