DEVICE WITH CONTROLLED WATER CIRCULATION FOR BOILER SYSTEMS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4813272
A boiler system which is in particular used in connection with nuclear reactors is composed of a plurality of columns, each comprising an outer casing through which the heating fluid passes from the top to the bottom and which encloses near the top the economizer followed by the boiling stage and finally by the superheater stages. The boiling stage in such systems suitably comprises a water drum surrounded by a plurality of boiler tubes that are in communication with said drum at their extremities, so that a natural circulation takes place through the boiler tubes and this water drum. The said circulation is increased by injection of supplementary water into these tubes with the aid of an injection pump to which the water is delivered from the bottom of said water drum. According to another embodiment, the boiler stage comprises not a water drum but a single boiling tube which is provided with helical fins for separating the steam from the water, the separated water being led down via a special circuit situated outside the column. The supplementary water is injected at the lower extremity of said single boiling tube. (NPO)
