NEUTRON ACTIVATION ANALYSIS AND ITS MEASUREMENT TECHNIQUES (in German)

Journal Article · · Telefunken Ztg.
OSTI ID:4820559
S>The technique and possibilities of activation analysis and the experience gathered in this connection using Telefunken nuclear radiation measuring equipment are described. The activation analysis is a valuable addition to the other methods of analysis since it is free of errors caused by subsequent tracelike contaminations. The activation analysis is suitable both for the quantitative determination and the qualitative analysis of unknown elements. Three methods are described in detail of testing the purity of the activity: testing of constant specific activity, recording the drop in activity as a function of time, and the spectroscopic examination of gamma rays. The gamma spectrum Sb/sup 122/ is shown, recorded by a Telefunken pulse height analyzer. The gamma spectrum of a sample of streptomycin is shown, the sample being outside the NaJ(Tl) crystal, whereas a similar spectrum is shown of a sample inside the hole crystal. (auth)
