DISTURBANCES IN THE GENERATIVE SYSTEM OF MONKEYS IN REMOTE PERIODS FOLLOWING ACUTE RADIATION SICKNESS (in Russian)
Under investigation was the state of the generative function in 33 lower monkeys (24 females and 9 males) who had sustained in the past (up to 51/2 years age) acute radiation sickness. In female monkeys radiation doses of 600 r and higher caused either the appearance of stable sterility or sharp derangement of their reproductive function, as the result of which pregnancy was superseded by abortion. Radiation doses of 500 r and lower in a number of cases did not prevent the appearance in the irradiated females of a normal progeny. In male monkeys even doses of 700 r were not completely sterilizing and did not prevent in some cases the birth of normal offspring. Disturbances of the normal development in the progeny of irradiated monkeys were not followed up in the first generation. (auth)
