A method is given for producing biologically active polymers which may be used as bacteriostats, fungistats, and insecticides. The method comprises grafting side chains with biologically active groups onto a polymeric substrate by means of exposure to ionizing radiation. Polymers and monomers which may be used are described, and many examples of the method are given along with observations on the activity of the products. (D.L.C.)
