SILICON SURFACE BARRIER [delta] E / [delta] x DETECTORS FOR NUCLEAR REACTION STUDIES
S> Simple procedures involving only standard laboratory equipment are given for the fabrication of silicon surface barrier particle detectors with thicknesses of 0.6 to 2 mils and areas of 20 to 100 mm/sup 2/. These detectors are fabricated from 400 or 1500 OMEGA -cm n-type silicon wafers with evaporated gold front contacts and evaporated aluminum back contacts. The resolution obtained is limited as much by statistical effects as by thickness variation for counters thinner than 1 mil. (auth)
