EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON CHEMICAL PROTECTIVE AND THERAPEUTIC AGENTS AGAINST RADIATION INJURY

Various chemical agents were administered to mice beroro oi- aftcr whole- body x irradiation of 550 r. Lethality and hcmatological findings were cxamined. Cystine, cysteamine, homocysteine thiolacton, methylmethionine, sulfonium chloride, alinamine, thioctic acid, glucuronic acid, cad tranquillizers had a protective and therapeutic effcct for radiation injury. However, glutathion, L- methioninc, thiolactic acid, pantothenic acid, vitamin B/sub 12/, orotic ad-id, vitamnin B/sub 4/, and nucleic acid were less or not effective. (Abstr.
