PRODUCTION OF PLASTIC SCINTILLATORS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4818673
The production of 2 ft x 2 ft x 4 in. plastic scintillator slabs is described. The scintillator uses polystyrene as base, p-terphenyl as fluor and popop as wavelength shifter. It is prepared by polymerizing the monomer solution near its boiling point. Some factors governing the successful preparation of the scintillator are discussed. (auth)
