Fermilab is in the midst of a major upgrade program aimed at producing at least a factor of five improvement in the luminosity performance of the Tevatron proton-antiproton collider. The key element in this program is construction of a new 150 GeV accelerator, the Fermilab Main Injector. Performance goals and design criteria for the Main Injector accelerator are described. 7 refs., 3 figs., 3 tabs.
