EFFICIENCY OF A LONG COUNTER AS A FUNCTION OF THE DIRECTION AND LOCUS OF INCIDENCE OF THE NEUTRON

Journal Article · · Nuclear Instr. & Methods
The efficiency of a shielded and of an unshielded HansonMcKibben long counter is measured as a function of the position and direction of incidence of the neutron on the front face of the paraffin cylinder. A collimated neutron beam from a Ra- alpha -Be source is used for the measurements. The efficiency of the long counter in an approxi mately uniform flux of Ra- alpha -Be neutrons is also measured, as a function of the angle made by the counter axis and the flux direction. (auth)
