NON-RADIOACTIVE TESTING OF THE HAPO II STRONTIUM CARBONATE FILTER CASK INSERT

Tests were carried out on a filter insert for a cask designed for shipping purified strontium carbonate-Sr/sup 90/ in multi-kilocurie quantities. Strontium carbonate is precipitated from neutral sodium nitrate solutions with potassium bicarbonate. The tests included filter capacity, filtrate losses, washing, product removal procedures, and internal heater tests. Satisfactory performance was obtained in all tests. (D.L.C.)
