OSTI ID:4817073
Non-radioactive testing of the HAPO II-2 cask for shipment of precipitated strontium carbonate was carried out. The capacity of the filter unit was determined to be 1250 g strontium, ~ 2/3 of that for the HAPO Il-1 cask. The dried strontium carbonate filter cake dissolved completely in 3 M nitric acid after soaking for l5 min at 100/ deg F, and no cask pressurization occurred. The cartridge-type heater with cold end'' and lead terminations extended beyond the top of the cask was found to be better than that of the HAPO II-1 cask. (D.L.C.)
